Changelog — ID Tools
What's new in each release of ID Tools, newest first.
0.5.0 (build 7) — October 7, 2026
- The route planner can avoid ferries and toll roads: two new switches, remembered between uses.
- The route planner has a new control with the same layout on every map style, and an optional "keep this route" switch.
- Turn-by-turn directions in the GPX file are standard GPX 1.1 waypoints, so other apps can read them too.
- The Location simulator keeps the road data it already downloaded when the map data service fails partway.
0.4.1 (build 6) — October 4, 2026
- The route planner now follows the Metric/Imperial setting for its route summary, the distance of each turn and the route's name; they were always metric.
- Fixed the floating control panel being unreadable on the dark theme: its texts and the − / + buttons were dark on a dark background.
- The About screen shows the full app name, Incident Detection Tools.
- Incident Detection's "plan a route" button now opens ID Tools straight on the route planner.
- Release builds are shrunk and obfuscated, so the app is smaller.
0.4.0 (build 5) — October 4, 2026
- Added a Location simulator: it replays an imported GPX track as mock location (choose ID Tools under Developer options → Select mock location app), with a preview map, a constant or custom speed, a 0.5, 1 or 2 second update interval, random speed variation, slowing through corners, a steady speed on straights, and car, bike and walking profiles. It remembers its options between uses.
- The simulator can optionally use OpenStreetMap data (through the public Overpass service; off by default): real traffic lights, stop and give-way signs, crossings and roundabouts instead of guessed junctions, and road speed limits, with the replay easing between limits. Where a road has no limit tagged, the legal default for its type is assumed (Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Germany), and the screen shows how much of the track comes from tags and how much is assumed. "Set speed as the maximum" keeps the replay from going faster than the set speed.
- Pausing the replay brakes smoothly instead of stopping dead. An optional floating control panel over other apps (pause, stop, live slower and faster) needs the "Display over other apps" permission.
- Added an online route planner (public Valhalla service) with a start, up to ten stops, and walking, running, cycling or driving. Its route can go to the Location simulator or to Incident Detection as a GPX file, optionally with turn-by-turn directions in the phone's language. It replaces the Map tool on Home.
- Frequency generator: the range now goes up to 20 kHz, on a logarithmic slider, and the tone is generated at 48 kHz.
- Added MapToolKit and MapTiler map styles, General and Map tabs in Settings, a maximize toggle on maps and a light/dark map button; the compass heading is smoother.
- Navigation is now called "Go to point", and it and the new tools sit at the bottom of Home.
0.3.1 (build 4) — September 20, 2026
- Removed an experimental offline map option that wasn't available in normal use, and corrected the Map tool's description, which wrongly implied offline map support.
0.3.0 (build 3) — August 30, 2026
- Added a Frequency generator / SOS tool: an adjustable tone generator with a live pitch glide, plus a one-tap SOS button looping the Morse ··· −−− ··· pattern. Both play on the alarm audio stream, so silent mode and Do Not Disturb don't mute them.
- Navigation checkpoint tracking now runs from a foreground service, so it keeps advancing with the screen off or the app in the background instead of stalling.
- Arriving at a checkpoint now vibrates and catches up on any checkpoints skipped along the way instead of getting stuck waiting for you to backtrack; the arrival radius grew from 10 m to 20 m.
- Added a compass calibration screen and a Map style picker, replacing the old light/dark map toggle.
- The navigation summary now shows the total remaining route distance.
- Redesigned the Map screen and added an Incident Detection shortcut to the Home menu.
- Fixed: azimuth and distance waypoint input rejecting the wrong unit; the Map screen losing its camera position when swiping between pages; the navigation-tracking notification not opening the app or showing progress.
0.2.0 (build 2) — August 28, 2026
- Added MapLibre OSM Tourist Maps for outdoor exploration.
- Redesigned the compass dial (Compass V2) with live heading, bearing indicators and sensor calibration guidance.
- Added saved routes and waypoint-based navigation with a route library.
- Added Polish localization and theme switching (Light / Dark).
0.1.0 (build 1) — August 26, 2026
- First version: an app scaffold with Incident Detection's colors and theming, and a home screen listing the planned tool categories (compass, GNSS info, frequency generator / SOS, navigation).
